We Brits are blessed when it comes to the high street, I wouldn’t swap Dorothy Perkins for any amount of J Crews or Kookais but there ain’t nothing like a charity shop. When I lived in Brighton I used to regularly make a solo day trip to grey seaside towns for the chazzas followed by a jacket potato in a nearby cafe. Blissful moments hunting for treasures and chatting to old ladies that really can’t compare with battling through crowds of people in a busy shop.
On a mission to west London before Christmas I found these absolute beauties pictured above, as well as a few inspired presents. Follow that with a cuppa tea and burger & chips in a caff while reading the hawesome Deidre’s Photo Casebook and you have a recipe for a day of pure heaven, must do it more often.
The shoes are dove grey suede, with a chunky modern retro sole and slightly pointed toe, all for £5.99! Because of the delicate pale suede I can’t wear them until spring, but I’ve already had an anxiety dream about spilling beans on them. Go figure. The laces need changing but I can’t wait to wear them with fresh summer colours and block greys and blacks. I’m thinking my sherbety coral pencil skirt, and maybe some razzy black lacy tights for a hint of dirtbag. They would also look amazing with a monochrome face print Esprit dress from the ’90s which is pure Magenta Devine, sweet.
