Despite my love of long I’ve yet to find my perfect maxi, I recently bought a nice and simple stripy high street one, but I’m looking for something with a little more edge. The fact is I don’t actually spend that much time shopping, preferring a leisurely trip to the charity shops or a quick intense burst of sample sale than visit to ‘normal’ shops. A too short vintage Mark One maxi in a pleasing shade of taupe needs a it bit of work with some peachy mesh fabric inserts to bring it to life. In the meantime I’ve got my eye on this panelled dress from Full Circle, it’s got a pleasingly retro late ’80s early ’90s feel to it and is a statement piece all on its own. Stripes, zips, block colours and ruched pockets it’s the kind of summer dress you can just easily sling on without having to worry about accessories.

Another frock I’ve got my eye on is the Aqua printed maxi with long sleeves at Asos. It’s a kind of take on ikat and the simple black and white colour combo is crying out for a bit of fluoro nail varnish or a neon belt. I’d also like to make a neon mesh vest tunic to sling on over the top, or sheer chiffon which also looks great in punchy bright colours.
