I love packing at the best of times, but when you’re faced with two panniers to pack in, one of which you want to keep kind of empty because it’s Koninginnedag and the whole of the Netherlands is having a car boot sale, yes siree… Well that’s one kind of fashion rubix cube I can really get my teeth into.
Let me explain, when you read this I’ll wending my merry way through Holland, around Utrecht and Amsterdam. I’ve bought myself some fetching padded cycle shorts and I’m trying to pack the bare minimum. Some rolled-up tops, a few shorts, a few nice tops for the evening and some statement jewellery to jazz it all up. Am I starting to sound like a TV fashion makeover person yet? Mm, capsule wardrobe with additional jaunty neckscarves.
Anyway, Queen’s Day, on April 30th is a pretty big deal and there’s this thing called the vrijmarkt where everybody can sell their stuff in the street. I’m secretly hoping it’s full of wealthy grandmas having a clearout, but I’m sure it’ll be a load of old toot. Still, that half empty pannier is there for the taking.
