Hope you like food, because this week’s Sunday Sundries is mostly comestibles. Last Sunday I made the trip east to meet friends in Dalston, so excited to try out A Little Of What You Fancy, heard so many good things about that place and it totally lives up to expectations.
Then onto Violet Cakes, who totally blew my mind before I even ate anything, by serving all their food on a mix of Beryl and Jasmine Woods Ware. I’m kind of obsessed with this institutional china, in fact an article on Jasmine appeared in Fantastic Man years ago and was the clincher in making me subscribe. You can check out my Beryl board on Pinterest… it’s kind of twee, but hey at least it ain’t a wedding board! Never. Doing. That.
Chorizo and avocado with greek yoghurt, too good.
All about the cake, this carrot cake had vanilla icing, again too good.
It says ‘Hospital Property’ on the spoon <3 <3
Love that my flatmate gets the flowers in, peonies are some of my faves.
This Sunday was a good old hangover-busting bikeride. Got some sweet new tyres for my bike so I went up to Crystal Palace, I took on the hill but gave up at the last 10 metres. It’s really, really beautiful up in Dulwich village, the houses are ridics and the private Dulwich Estate has a tollgate, which makes it feel even more surreal up there.
Threatened to rain all day but thankfully stayed dry apart from a few ominous drops.
Lamb roast at the Alma, a really beautiful and cosy pub in Crystal Palace.
Cra-aazy Dulwich College, the motto on their gate is ‘God’s Gift’ LOL. I once drove past this place in the snow and all the boys were outside in their suits having a snowball fight. Wish my eyes were video cameras.
