I was really sad to hear the news today that filmmaker Chris Marker died. La Jetée, a 20 minute piece composed of still frames, is one of my favourite films and one of his most famous works. It just goes to show you don’t need huge budgets or even moving images to tell a compelling science fiction story, I’ve picked some of my favourite stills from the film as they’re worthy of as images in their own right. You should also take a look at Sans Soleil, a documentary/mental sketchbook of a variety of countries including Japan.
It probably sounds a bit shallow to say this, but hey this is a fashion blog, the woman in the film has the most perfect tousled chignon ever. I became a little obsessed with it at one point, she also wears a very on-trend combination of sloppy joe sweater and pencil skirt.
