Margate’s Secret Shell Grotto

You may remember my post about Margate a few weeks back and what a lovely day out it was. One of the highlights of the day was a trip to the Shell Grotto, a weird mysterious underground grotto covered in shells symbolising flowers, penises and uteruses which supposedly lay uncovered for centuries until a Victorian gent came across it at the bottom of his garden. I KNOW.
It was a sincerely creepy place, you can find out more about it here, if you ever get the chance to go and visit the area I strongly recommend a trip to the grotto.
