Bringing back ‘Things To Look Forward To‘ for Autumn, it might be coat weather but don’t let that be a downer because there’s loads of exciting things on in the capital over the next coupla months… Ice Cream Van Illustrated until Friday The V&A’s Raphael Gallery has played host to a fair few catwalk shows but this was the first dinner gala I’d ever attended there; you know it’s fancy when the dress code says ‘Lounge Suit/National Dress’. We were treated to Lie Sang Bong’s most recent catwalk collections (more on this soon) and an epic meal [...] You know when you’re a child and your brain seems pretty empty? It’s only really got your phone number and your best friend’s phone number memorised, it’s pretty much an empty vessel ripe for filling. I used to read and read every fashion history book I could get my hands on, all the historical sections [...] It all started with this Jak & Jil picture, the thick, crisp print worn in an unexpected way, model Shu Pei Qin wears ikat print so stylishly without doing any boho/’effnic’ clichés that are tresemmé boring. Then, when wandering through the V&A to find the Grace Kelly I found this amazing ikat coat from Uzbekistan. [...]  |
