The second part of my Grenson factory visit, I interviewed creative director Tim Little, a advertising man by trade who came into the shoe business after failing to find his perfect pair of dress shoes. He is the man responsible for reviving Grenson and breathing life and humour into the brand. How did you get into [...] Just at the end of last year I headed up to Northampton to visit the Grenson factory. Northampton has been associated with footwear and shoemaking for hundreds of years, records show a Cordwainers street back in 1200. Alison, Grenson’s PR, sent me instructions on how to get there but I decided to cycle (small aside, [...] Catherine Teatum and Rob Jones are fresh from the success of the Centre for Fashion Enterprise’s Venture Award, a prize that secures them business support and investment for the next two years. I spoke to them in their London studio last week to find out more and hear all about their AW13 collection, showing today [...] I met Charles Olive through mutual friends and it was always lovely to have someone to talk fashion with so when he mentioned earlier this year that he was launching a label of bow ties I went and scoped out his studio and had a chat with him about how it all got started. She splits her time between doing womenswear for Pink, the luxury shirt brand loved by City workers, and her own label LF Markey. We sit in her studio which she shares with a knitwear designer and footwear designer, and over [...] I first met Charlie May through her delightful blog Girl a la Mode, with her long hair and simple, flowing clothes she cuts a dramatic figure -and one that is still quite memorable even after a few glasses of champagne at an event.
